[ ...Well, if it's more comfortable for him to pretend the focus is solely the music, if that will get him to share with her, why not let him have his version of it. ]
To the best of my knowledge, I came into this world with these powers. My "husband" had nothing to do with that, but he was the first to make me feel seen, to celebrate what I could do rather than try to suppress it.
Before I was brought into the Church, my abilities were unfocused. Years of concentrated discipline and practice gave me the control I had been missing.
[ After an insufferable few minutes of trying not to keep typing. ]
Please take "discipline" and "practice" to mean something not unlike the Salem Witch Trials inflicted upon me by a zealous Clergy who refused to accept a child witch whose powers, at the time, only manifested as an emotional reaction.
[That's a new surprise. That this can work over text but it feels right.]
...I'm sorry.
No one should be persecuted for what they are. It-
[This is contrary to what he believes. He should be dead. He is a monster. Monsters can't be human.]
Unless they seek to actively do harm. And you're not
you don't serve one of the entities. I'd rather pass it on to another deity then one of them because none of them except the beholding would do it...right.
The persecution was short-lived, at least. It wasn't "persecution" from the Clergy, it was just their way. It did shape me. It brought me to where I am today, which is in power and position to clean them out of MY Church.
Interesting. Are you not immune to your own charms?
The way it was described to me, if you don't feed your entity it feeds on you. And that the human mind naturally turns to the ... desire to it once it's claimed you. So when I spoke, I spoke because it's true even if I don't want it to be true.
[a pause]
But I don't know if I'm immune or not. The archivist's powers are unique.

Oh, they're delightful. It really is a shame about the Key, but what you've given us is just wonderful.

[And despite what he may think, Jon does care.]
Good.
[He's still amazed that Elias gave it to him. That he let them walk out with them but...]
The beholding wanted you to have them

[ Hell only knows what that means to these people, but she can...well, sympathize isn't quite the right word. She knows the type, at least. ]
Well. Still mind my words. Don't let them get used to the lenience.
Yours is a benevolent god, after all, it would seem.

[Because she seems only interested in making music while elias is all about that world domination through pain. If he had to chose...]
How did you accept that you had these powers. Get used to them, train yourself. Did your...your love, and your husband and your god do it?

Ah, so it works through text, as well.

[That just burst out of him and Jon Sims stares.]
I didn't mean to type that.

No. It's just sort of happened.
And learning things. Seeing things has also just sort of happened. Being able to read Mandarin without knowing the language was a surprise.

The more people use these abilities the less human they are.

I don't know anymore.
I think I want to? I mean.
I shouldn't want to. But I do.

It is your intention to fight the other monsters, is it not?
no subject
To stop the other rituals yes.
You're right about humanity.

Know yourself, archivist.

There is a kind of slyness within the thought. The eye whispers.
...She's right archivist. know yourself.]
...You're right.
